Nothing of value comes without a strategy. We all have many plans and strategies for our life, our relationship, and our career. But how many of us have a strategy for their style? Have you ever thought about that?
In this blog post, we would like to explain the 80/20 rule, how it is affecting your wardrobe, and, finally, some tips to maximize your wardrobe by reversing it.
What Is the 80/20 Rule
The 80/20 rule states that for many events, 80 percent of the effect comes from 20 percent of the causes. Here it means that most of us only use 20% of our clothing 80% of the time. And this is what we want to reverse.
Why Should You Reverse It
- You are probably spending most of your budget on items you wear the least, sometimes only once! If you are cost-sensitive, this can easily mean that you are sacrificing your comfort over having more stuff.
- More stuff means more time to manage. When your wardrobe is packed with clothes, It will take you way more time to take care of them and keep them in good condition.
- It takes a lot of space! Giving space to clothes I hardly ever wear is honestly very painful to me! Especially because I share a closet with my partner, and I need to beg for more space, doesn’t it sound familiar? Lol!
- You lose vision! Styling like anything else can be so overwhelming when you have a lot of options to pick from, and that would not make the styling process any easier or quicker!
How to Reverse it
Audit your wardrobe every now and then!
Go through your stuff, see what you haven’t worn in years, and donate or sell them. There are numbers of charities and websites out there that make it easy for you, and all you need to do is google them. Here is a blog post I found very informative.
Swap Clothes With Your Friends
Those who have the same size as yours for special occasions. Swapping gives you lots of variety with minimum commitment. All you need to do is to take extra care of them and be willing to do the same favor for your friend.
Mix And Match
Who says you need to buy a whole new outfit for an event because you don’t! Trust yourself and try to pair clothes you already own! It can boost your confidence and save you time and money.
Stick to the Base Colors
We all know it is much harder to find the right dress for a yellow hill than a black or tan one. This is what you need to keep in mind if you are at the beginning of creating your dream wardrobe, make sure you covered the basics before you go bold!
Put your regular clothing first!
Your comfort and your health are way more important than your dress for now and then events. I am not saying to not get expensive fancy stuff for a special occasion. But if you have a limited budget; a classy, comfortable everyday sneaker is way more critical than Louboutin heels. Do you get me?
